July 4th!

A great day picnicing by the dog park, and then fireworks! I've never been to community park for the fireworks in Davis before, last time I tried I went too late and it was so full, so we just stood on an overpass nearby. This time we went early and stayed all day with the puppies.

Lazy Day

Dedicated to sloths and anteaters, because they are the best animals ever. Sloths are slightly better than anteaters though.

Apparently I can't tell time

and I left work an hour early! Actually my watch was off, I think I messed it up changing the date, and the whole time I was at work I never noticed it didn't match the clock. I didn't notice actually until I got home and checked the messages on my cell phone that I had left work a whole hour early! What the heck! And no one said anything to me...oops ^^;

Well it wasn't super important, and I can make up my hour later, but anyway...just thought I would share how I failed today. I blame the long bike ride in the heat on the way to work.

My dog is just not very bright

He's always getting himself into trouble by doing things like this



He chewed a hole in my blanket, crawled in it, got stuck, and then walked around like a super hero. Which actually, is pretty damn cute, but he's just not all that smart. Our jack mix, Gambit, would have for sure gotten out of it, but no, Chili just had to drag it around the house and make the hole HUGE.

Unless maybe he did it on purpose? Maybe Mr. Chili Dog really has a secret life I don't know about. Hmm...

4th of July bag!

I thought I'd try doing something holiday themed. Usually I realize too soon before the holidays and then its too late to really make anything for etsy, so this time even though July 4th isn't really a big gift giving day I thought I'd at least fit the theme

These bags with the little animals sewn on them seem to do best in the shop, and I suppose they are the most original. I think I like these best too actually, but I might experiment a bit more, the store is still too new to figure out what's a big hit. I also want to try making some soaps actually, its so pretty, but I have none of the materials right now. Maybe I'll make some for friends first as a summer project.

A good reason for missing work

So this is about a week old now, but I'm slow up updating. Last Friday, I had coincidentally planned on being "sick" from work and making up my hours later because a good friend was leaving for China the next day and wanted to hang out. It happened to be a very windy night the night before and a very windy day, and when I woke up in the morning I found this



In case you can't tell, that is a TREE that fell on our house. Well technically not on, the only part of the house it actually hit was some powerlines, its an old building and ours are above ground. Its a duplex complex with that big shared driveway, and the tree actually was the perfect size to fit right in the driveway. Unfortunately this means it was also the perfect size to block my car in. So, I was stuck. Needless to say work did not care I could not make it when I called and said a tree fell on us. I was also way, way late for hanging out with my friend. But at least I didn't have to fake sick, haha.

Super late gardening update

I had planned to fairly regularly document my first gardening from seed attempt with my tomatoes...but yeah I fail. But about 2 months after I first planted, here's the product so far!



Actually these are a couple weeks old by now, they're a lot bigger at this point. I don't have a picture of the whole plot but actually the plants are all a little too big and kinna getting tangled with each other. I left as much row space as it said to but my cages were a bit small. Oh well. I am pretty pleased with myself for not killing my plants for once, although the herb seeds I planted all died out and now I'm on my second attempt with those. Pretty cool though, and in another few weeks I get to eat my tomatoes! Worth this much effort? Eh I don't know we have such good produce here that you can get for good prices, but gardening is pretty rewarding and it motivates me to be better about upkeep for the lawn.
